Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the most common questions I get asked. If your question isn’t on this list, feel free to reach out and ask me!

“What if you don’t accept my insurance?”

I accept most major insurance plans and I also accept clients out-of-network. My rate is $175 per session; however, I also offer a sliding scale for those who qualify.

“What’s the first session like?”

Our first meeting, also called your intake session, is a thorough assessment where you’ll be asked questions about your mental health history, current concerns, and personal background to help the me understand your needs. The session will include discussing your current symptoms, goals for therapy, and session expectations. I’ll also share how I structure sessions using Existential Therapy and CBT interventions.

“I thought therapy is in-person. Is virtual effective?”

A common misconception is that therapy involves laying on a couch in a therapist’s office while being asked “how does that make you feel?” Realistically, especially in a post-pandemic world, the therapy space has shifted to focus more on comfort and accessibility, which often occurs in the virtual setting. Whether we talk in the car while you’re on your lunch break or while you’re home getting dinner ready for the family, virtual therapy can help sessions be a seamless additive to your routine.

“Why should I talk to a stranger?”

Well… because I’m a stranger! I don’t know your life until you tell me the details. In my experience, I’ve seen that while sharing your entire life story can be overwhelming, it can also be a relief to clients because I don’t carry any preconceived notions or judgements towards you. Together, we get to find any connection between past and current experiences through your narrative.

“I’m a parent/legal guardian and I want my teen to start therapy, where do I begin?”

First, its important to know that the age of consent to counseling services in NJ is 16 years old. If your teen is 16+ and is not open to therapy, I am unable to begin treatment without their consent. Check out this resource for strategies on how to help them warm up to the idea: https://www.chconline.org/resourcelibrary/what-to-do-if-your-teen-refuses-to-go-to-counseling/

Otherwise, to get started contact me so I can have an idea of what your child needs. Please note that I work with ages 12+
